We are just a phone call away

Alert message sent 29/03/2019 22:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello, hope you all are well. Your local beat team are busy with patrols in the area to reduce vehicle crime and burglary which unfortunately is still of a concern. Please ensure you still utilise things like timer lights, alarms and CCTV to deter criminals. I am hoping that most are now aware not to leave valuable items in vehicles. Even leaving things like loose change in the centre console on show would attracted those pesky criminals. Please don’t leave items on show.

Near the area of Clarkes Road Wigston there was an incident that occurred on Tuesday 26/03/19 about 15:00hrs where a group of males were seen holding items that potentially could be used in crime. I saw on Facebook ‘Spotted Wigston’ page there was mention that the group may have been responsible for a Burglary in the area belonging to an elderly lady but no mention of the address etc on the facebook post. However we have conducted extensive house to house and CCTV enquiries. So far we cannot establish if any Burglary occurred from speaking to the local community. If anyone has any information relating to this to please reply me and quote crime reference 19000154088.

Now to change the subject I would like to inform you of a good news story. On Sat 23rd March about 23:00hrs we received a call around the area of Milligan Road in Aylestone where a break to a shed was happening. Officers attended the location and as the suspect was on a bike making his getaway towards the Pork Pie Roundabout, officers detained and arrested the male based on the information and description passed from the caller. During the time it was established that the same male also broke into a Garage on Cheshire Road possible stealing tools.
The suspect has been charged for Burglary offences. Overall a great result for the officers who swiftly attended the area especially when we have had a spate of burglaries and vehicle crime in that area. However we would like to thank the member of public who called us as without your support the suspect would have got away. So if you see any suspicious activity we are just a phone call away!

Stay Safe
