Burglary prevention

Alert message sent 29/03/2019 17:28:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Citizen

I sent a message out last month about an attempt burglary in Bearwood whereby offenders used a ladder that was in the back garden at the location. Fortunately on that occasion no entry was gained into the property and offenders made off empty handed.

Sadly, further to that, I have to report a burglary on Barclay Road Bearwood overnight this week whereby offenders were able to use ladders left in the garden of a neighbouring property to gain access into the rear garden of the attacked property but this time they did gain entry, took car keys and other property then made off in the owners vehicle!

As before, we appreciate that inside storage space is often limited, especially for things like ladders, so the obvious place to leave them is outside in the garden, in a shed or in a garage. Can I please reiterate, if it is necessary for you to leave ladders outside please secure them to an immovable object with a chain and padlock to prevent them being used by offenders to burgle properties.

Please remain vigilant and report anything you think is suspicious to us
