Door to Door Sales

Alert message sent 13/03/2019 20:06:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

There have been reports of males going door to door and attempting to sell goods. It has been reported that the males are using aggressive sales tactics, claiming they are ex-prisoners who are using a laminated piece of card, and are claiming to be working for a service known as 'Helping Hands'. This does not appear to be legitimate.

The following advice should be followed:

• Ask to see their identification, clarify which company they are working and the purpose of their visit. If you unhappy, refuse their services and ask them to leave.Do not let them into your home.
•  Do not ring any numbers given to you by the person at the door. Ask them to wait outside and shut the door see if you can find a genuine phone number/ website and contact company to verify the validity of the sales person.
• Door to Door Sales are generally uninvited sales persons MUST leave if you ask them to. If they refuse to leave call 999.
• If there is anything suspicious about their behaviour please call 101.
