Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Two warrants have been carried out in Bedford this week targeting a suspected brothel and cannabis factory.

Two people were arrested on Friday after a warrant at a suspected cannabis factory. Officers recovered a large amount of suspected cannabis, cash and some mobile phones.

In a separate operation, officers secured a closure order at a property we suspected was being used as a brothel.

Three women and two men were also safeguarded and offered support after the operation in The Boundary, Bedford.

A warrant was carried out at the address by officers on Wednesday evening, as it was believed the property was being used as a brothel and as a result was causing anti-social behaviour issues in the area.

A closure order was granted at the property by magistrates on Thursday.

Inspector Paul Ayling, from the Bedford community team, said: "We continue to protect vulnerable people and are dedicated to keeping our communities safe. We won’t tolerate the exploitation of people and will do all we can to tackle those responsible.

"Those dealing drugs are often involved in other organised and violent crime, as well as the exploitation of children and vulnerable adults.

"That's why it is so important we continue to take action against anyone involved in the supply and production of drugs."
