Scam telephone calls advice

Alert message sent 14/02/2019 11:09:00

Information sent on behalf of Gloucestershire Constabulary

If you receive a telephone call and you are concerned that it may be a Scam call put the telephone down.

To establish if the telephone call is genuine call the organisation back directly yourself using another telephone. This method should be used whenever possible.

If you do not have access to another telephone before you make the telephone call make sure you can clearly hear the dialling tone. If using the same telephone to make the call to the organisation waiting 10 or 15 minutes will not guarantee that the line is now cleared. It is essential that you are certain that you can hear the dialling tone before making the call.
