Ram-Raid at Convenience Stores Overnight

Alert message sent 11/02/2019 13:23:00

Information sent on behalf of South Yorkshire Police

Overnight we have responded to a number of reports of a vehicle being used to ram-raid supermarkets in the local area. At 02:44 we received a report of a car ramming shutters at a petrol station on Burncross road, this was then followed by similar reports at 03:54 at a convenience store in the Hillsborough area and finally at 04:20 at another store in Stockbridge.

At each location, it was reported that a dark coloured vehicle was being used to cause damage to the premises, and that cash and cigarettes had been stolen. An investigation has been launched and a number of lines of enquiry are being pursued in relation to these offences.

We are appealing with anyone with information about these offences to get in touch via 101 quoting incident number SYP-20190211-0065. We are also asking for members of the local community and local shop keepers to ensure their premises are secure and to report any suspicious activity in and around convenience stores especially when closed to us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
