Alert message sent 01/02/2019 17:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria Police

Dear all users,

My name is Mark Robson and I am a PCSO who covers Penrith North Rural area. I would like to make you aware that we have had a report of a fish seller(s) operating in the area of Newbiggin, Croglin area. This occurred on Wednesday 30th January 2019 at 09:40 am.

Two males in white van approached a member of public and offered to sell fish from their vehicle. The passenger got out and was described as white, aged approximately 50 years, 6ft tall, large frame build, short brown hair and wearing a white nylon jacket. The fish seller told the member of public that they had spoken to his wife and that she had agreed to the fish (this has not occurred). The member of public allowed the fish seller into his house; as the fish seller stated he would help him pack his freezer. The fish seller then asked for £350 via bank details for the fish which the member of public refused and the fish seller took the fish back.

Police are investigating this as a fraud and are asking if anyone had come across any fish sellers at around the time of this incident to pass on any registrations they may have?

If so, please ring 101 or send a 101 email and quote log number CP-20190130-0217.

Please do not allow anyone who does not have an ID into your home. Report all suspicious incidents to police.
