Trading Standards warning - Watch out for cold-calling fish seller

Alert message sent 18/01/2019 12:36:00

Information sent on behalf of Local Authority

We have received complaints this week from Ollerton residents who have been approached on their doorstep by people selling fish from a white van.

Sellers who operate in this way claim to be selling premium fresh fish, but it is typically just cheap white fish that may also have been previously frozen.

They will typically initially offer a ‘bargain’ price but then become aggressive and attempt to overcharge you.

We advise residents not to buy anything from cold-callers, particularly products like fish which may not be safe to eat.

If you have any recent information on this issue please report it to The Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 04 05 06.
