Information sent on behalf of Slough Council

Road works warning – A4 in Cippenham

Roadworks to improve a key junction in Cippenham are due to start on Monday 21 January.
The works – which will run for up to 16 weeks – will be taking place at the junction of the A4 with Elmshott Lane and Station Road in Cippenham in the western part of the borough.
The works will include lane closures – though only temporary ones and not for the whole of the period.
The works will provide:
  • a new light-controlled toucan crossing suitable for pedestrians and cyclists
  • smarter traffic lights with systems that can sense congestion and adjust the phasing accordingly
  • widening of the northside A4 pavement so there is more room for the shared pedestrian and cycle way
Disruption and congestion is expected during the works, though lane closures will be kept to a minimum and are scheduled to mainly be away from peak hours.
