Warning after report of fraudulant activity in Gloucester city centre

Alert message sent 09/01/2019 11:22:00

Information sent on behalf of Gloucestershire Constabulary

We are warning people to be vigilant as two women were stopped by City Protection Officers in Gloucester last week after they were seen to be approaching elderly members of the public before asking them for bogus charity donations.

We attended Eastgate Street shortly after 11.40am last Friday (4 January) where officers located two pieces of paper which had been discarded by the women.

The forms stated that the women were collecting money to build a centre for deaf children however upon further inspection they were found to be fake.

We have included an image of the form for awareness.

If you were in the area at the time or handed any money over to the women we would like to hear from you, please call 101 with incident number 113 of 4 January if you can help with our enquiries.

Alternatively you can submit information via our online form: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact-us/tell-us-about-something/?incident=113&date=04-01-2019

Advice on protecting yourself from becoming the victim of fraud can be found here: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/staying-safe/staying-safe-against-scams-or-fraud
