Distraction burglary offences in rural areas around Boston

LOCATION: Lowgate Lane, Bicker & Causeway, Wyberton
DATE AND TIME: 19/12/18 11:00 - 12:00
Boston police are wishing to make local residents aware of two distraction burglary offences which have occurred between 11:00-12:00 today which may possible be linked. The first of these in Lowgate Lane, Bicker involved two middle aged males gaining access to an elderly gentleman's  property after claiming they were looking at carrying out gardening work. The second on Causeway, Wyberton involved two middle aged males gaining access to an elderly female's house after claiming they may have hit her cat with their vehicle. At the Wyberton address the offenders made off with a handbag containing cash and personal belongings. In both incidents it is believed males were using a blue estate car, possibly a Vauxhall. Please can all residents remain vigilant for any suspicious persons/vehicles in the run up to the Christmas period and report to police via 999 if an emergency or 101 if non-emergency


Prevention Advice:
Make your house look occupied when vacant, instal timer switches to radios and lamps
Always keep your doors and windows closed and locked when not in use
Remove all keys away from access points and out of view
Check that side gates are locked and secure
Keep bins, ladders and garden furniture locked away from easy access
Fit window restrictors to fan light windows
Make your boundaries difficult to climb over i.e. trellis or prickly bushes
