Christmas Drink Drive warning

Alert message sent 06/12/2018 12:18:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

You may remember a BedsAlert that I sent out regarding Christmas shopping. This BedsAlert is the second of the Christmas BedsAlerts series and it is about drink driving during this festive period.

Do you want to be stopped, arrested, taken to the cells and forced to appear in front of the courts? The answer is no -  do not drive under the influence of drink or drugs.
We all want to enjoy Christmas and to some that may be socialising with a drink or two, however do not let this ruin yours or anyone else's Christmas!

If you are going out and plan to drink alcohol, please do not drive home after.
- Go out in the local area so that you can walk home
- Arrange for someone else who is not drinking to pick you up
Or use a taxi service!

The results of drink driving can be devastating.

The results of drink driving?
IF you're lucky enough not to kill or injure someone by drink driving you will receive a conviction for drink or drug driving which could mean a prison sentence, a driving ban and an unlimited fine.

Even very small amounts of alcohol can affect your driving. The only safe limit is none.

Make sure you've completely got rid of any alcohol from your system before driving. Many drink drivers are caught the next day. Only time will help you sober up.

Dont risk it.

If you suspect someone of drink/ drug driving, report it to either 999 in an emergency, 101 in non emergency or online.
