Weather Warning - Strong Winds

Good morning Citizen

The Met Office has issued a YELLOW be aware weather warning for strong winds that will affect much of the Scottish Borders and the rest of Scotland. A spell of strong winds on Friday is likely to bring some disruption. The Borders will experience winds of 40+mph and gusts of 60-70mph in exposed areas.

Much of the Western and Northern Borders is included in the warning area. Travel on exposed routes like the A68, A697, A701 and A702 may be affected. Other impacts you may experience are
  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected
  • Some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges
  • Some short term loss of power and other services
  • Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves
