Quick Change Scam
We have had 2 reports of recent quick change up scams, one at a garage shop in Bracknell and one in Shepherds Hill, Woodley.
How the scam works:
Two customers buy a bottle of water or similar small cost item and then pay with a large note, they start asking for change at lighting-fast speed confusing the cashier and come away with a lot more money than the item cost.
Currently 2 white men, one in his 20’s and one in his 30’s have been reported doing this and seem to be targeting the younger cashier.
What can you do ? Tips offered by other shop workers include not getting flustered and taking your time when dealing with change.
Any staff that are suspicious of a transaction could ask for another member of staff to be present while the transaction is carried out. Ring the police on 999 if this is happening
