Courier Scam

Alert message sent 19/02/2018 14:50:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Good afternoon E-coppers,

Another scam to be aware of......

The courier scam! This is where someone will contact you over the phone claiming to be from either your bank or the Police. They are stating that there has been some fraudulent activity with your account or at the bank itself. They will then request you either transfer your money to a "safe account" or send a courier round to collect your bank card and details or the cash itself after they have request you withdraw the money. They will tell you not to say a word to anyone as it could compromise the investigation into the fraud. They sound very convincing. Please stay safe.

Never give out your bank details and if you are in any doubt put the phone down and call your bank a few minutes later with a phone number provided on your bank statement.

Kind Regards,
PCSO Matt Chennell.
