Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following a distraction burglary that took place at approximately 1pm on Thursday 1 February in a property on Horton Road.

The offender engaged the victim, an 89-year-old woman, by claiming the trees needed to be cut in her garden. He entered the property and left shortly afterwards, when the victim realised that her purse had been taken.

A garden services van was parked close to the property.

The purse was later found in Sovereign Heights and handed in to Slough police station. The purse still contained the victim’s bank cards, which had not been used, but an amount of cash was missing.

The offender is described as a white man, aged around 70 years-of-age, with fair skin and stubble. He was wearing a navy blue coloured hat with navy blue overalls. The man spoke with an English accent.

Investigating officer, Pippa Rouse from the Windsor and Maidenhead Investigation Hub, said: “I would like to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or can provide further information about the offender, that may assist this investigation.

“I would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in this area around the time of the incident.”

If you have any information relating to this case, please call 101 quoting reference '43180039433', or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
