Scam Alert

Alert message sent 30/01/2018 11:53:00

Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

A resident of Sherborne has received a phone call claiming they are from a nuisance call service and offering them the service free of charge as they were a long standing customer. Unfortunately this person has gained several personal details whilst on the call as the person reporting this said they had many things happening at the time so was distracted. Unfortunately this has resulted in some money being taken from a bank account but the bank have been informed and stopped this transaction. Please use this as a reminder to never give any personal details away over the phone and if you are unsure who the person is just hang up. If the person is genuine they would never ask for personal details and be happy to wait for you to confirm their call by contacting the business they are from directly. Please report anything similar to Dorset Police by ringing 101 or the do it online function on the Dorset Police website. Also report this to Action Fraud at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
