Appeal for information after an attempted burglary – Winslow

An attempted burglary has been reported in Winslow in the early hours, Wednesday morning (29/11).

At around 3am the resident of a home on Avenue Road heard noises outside and looked out to see that someone was trying to force open a ground floor window.

The householder shouted at the offender, who then ran from the property in the direction of an alleyway to the rear. The offender did not get in and was disturbed before any damage had been done.

The offender, believed to have been a man, was wearing dark clothing, but there is no other description.

Please take a moment to review your own home security. Make sure doors and windows are locked when you go out, or when you go to bed. Make use of you alarm if you have one and check that any outside lighting is working.

Make sure that anyone acting suspiciously is reported to the police on the 24 hour number 101, or 999 in an emergency. Try to note their description and details of any vehicle they may be using.
