Christmas Shopping Fraud.....

Hello Everyone,

The festive season will soon be upon us and we will all be rushing around trying to buy that special gift or that must have item. With that in mind please make sure you buy from reputable outlets and online sellers this year.

The cost of christmas fraud last year was a whopping 16 million pounds with everything from card fraud to identity theft.

By keeping your details and your money safe with simple rules you will ensure you have a safe and happy christmas with peace of mind over your finances.
Don't hand out your details to anyone over the telephone unless you know where those  details are going. ie to a reputable seller or company.
Use safe payment methods online like paypal, or your own banks payment methods like worldpay or sagepay.
When in restaurants or shops don't let your card out of your sight, always stay in sight of the hand held terminal if using card payment to pay for your bill, so nobody can write down your details.
Think about getting a protective sleeve for your cards if you are going to be in busy crowded areas. Cards can be scanned while still in your wallet or purse.  Sleeves can be bought on line or at your local Police station.

Be Fraud safe this Christmas....

Kindest Regards
PCSO 6582 Lorna Barrett
