Scamming the Elderly

Alert message sent 21/11/2017 09:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Surrey Police

There is a nasty individual at work in the area at present who is targeting residents, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.  So if you have elderly parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours, you may want to warn them of this.
Residents (mainly senior citizens) are being contacted by a caller who alleges that he is a Police Officer and that they have seized cloned bank cards, this is all a ploy to get the resident to reveal card and PIN numbers.
Please note that Police will never contact anyone in this way and never pass any details of bank cards and accounts to anyone however plausible.
As this scam seems to be targeted at older residents, please pass on this information to any members of your family or neighbours who could be vulnerable to this type of activity
