Information sent on behalf of Durham Constabulary

A member of the public has reported to us today that she has received a call from a male claiming to be a Durham Constabulary Police Community Support Officer. Following a brief conversation the caller then asked for £60 to help fund a magazine being produced by the Police.

Please be aware that Durham Constabulary would never ask members of the public for money or bank details over the phone and are in no way associated with this type of magazine.

No legitimate organisation would expect anyone to give out personal details over the phone, if ever in doubt do not give out personal details.

For more information or if you feel you have been the victim of a scam/fraud please contact Action Fraud the national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime, or 0300 123 2040. Many thanks.
