Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

All

Good Afternoon

We have received a report of a robbery that occurred yesterday 16/10/2017 at approximately 11:45 hours on Warstone Lane near to the HSBC Bank – whereby offenders have snatched a bag containing money from someone intending to deposit the money into the bank.

At this time this is an isolated incident on the Quarter and whilst it may naturally cause alarm in a business community – please be reassured that this will be robustly investigated.

Please remain calm but vigilant to suspicious behaviour in the local area.    If you see something that does not look right, then please call us.  Tel: 101 or if the need is urgent and requires immediate Police attendance dial 999.

Crime prevention advice

In relation to banking and this goes for both business and personnel.    Please do NOT follow a routine, which may cause you to visit the bank at the same time / same day in order to make deposits.   Would be thieves may seek to exploit the pattern if presented with the opportunity.    Therefore by varying banking arrangements, be it times / dates or persons who deposit the monies.  The changes help to make the activity less predictable and can assist in removing opportunity, which therefore prevents crime.

Please also do not carry the money in obvious bags or containers that give away the fact that the item may contain money.    Whilst I am sure the majority of you already do this.  As a reminder please be discreet and either conceal the money on your person or place the money in innocuous bags / containers to further reduce the risk of you being the victim of crime.
