This message is dated Monday 25th September 2017 for Ascot.
A good weekend for Ascot.
These things happened in Windsor, but is useful advice for everyone:
A COURIER FRAUD - WITHOUT THE COURIER - JUST A BANK TRANSFER !!
23/9 Saturday Hanover Way. A neighbour who watches an elderly person who lives next door, has reported a potential Courier Fraud to us. The elderly neighbour reported that she had received a phone call from the Fraud Squad to say that her bank account was at risk. They asked her to withdraw £2,500 and transfer it into another account, where it will be safe. She went into her bank and did this. Can everyone tell everyone that they know - friends, neighbours, work colleagues and relatives - not to believe a phone call from the Fraud Squad asking them to remove / transfer cash !
THEFT FROM A CAR OF A PURSE WITH THE NEW TAP DEBIT CARD
23/9 Saturday 4.50 p.m. / 5.20 p.m. Vale Road. Car window smashed - PURSE stolen from inside. Immediate use of debit cards at 4 locations. PLEASE BE AWARE, THAT NOW WE HAVE BEEN ISSUED WITH THE NEW ‘TAP’ BANK CARDS, THEY CAN BE USED TO PURCHASE ANYTHING UP TO £30 - MULTIPLE TIMES, UNTIL THEY ARE REPORTED STOLEN - WITHOUT ANY SIGNATURES OR PIN NUMBERS !!!! We must therefore be much more careful with them !!!
COLD CALLERS OFFERING GARDENING WORK
23/9 Saturday 8.50 a.m. / 12.45 p.m. Champney Close, Horton. Plants pulled up in a garden and thrown over the drive. Several months ago, two young men drove up in a van, looking for work. The owner agreed that they could, clean and weed the paving in the rear garden and cut down some trees and bushes for him. The bill was high and he has been paying fortnightly to clear the full amount. They have since pestered him to do more work. Two weeks ago, he told them he didn’t want any more work done, made the final payment and not to come back. A neighbour reports that the current damage was carried out by two young men who turned up in a white van. Plants were pulled up and strewn across the drive. On Sunday 24th the police received a call from the aggrieved’s nephew, to say the men had come back asking for more money. PLEASE, DO NOT DEAL WITH ANYONE WHO CALLS AT YOUR DOOR - IT CAN LEAD TO ENDLESS PROBLEMS.
WE DO NOT BUY GOODS AND SERVICES AT THE DOOR
NO CRIME TO REPORT.
22/9 Friday 5.50 a.m. / 6 a.m. Armitage Court. Car entered and searched. Sunglasses from driver’s side door pocket, iPhone speaker cube from glovebox and projector from the boot stolen.
ASCOT & SOUTH ASCOT:
24/9 Sunday 0.10 a.m. Recreation Ground, Victoria Road. Seat of swing set on fire in the play area.
NO CRIME TO REPORT.
