Fraudlent Transactions on Business Accounts

Alert message sent 28/01/2017 15:40:00

Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

We have recently received a report from a retailer that a male had charged goods to an account of one of their customers.  The male did not have any authority to charge items to the account and was not directly employed by them.

Fortunately some of the goods that were charged to the account have now been recovered.

The company involved are in the process of reviewing how their clients accounts are managed to prevent a repeat of this incident.  These type of occurrences are rare but retailers should review how they check that the person charging items to accounts has authority to do so.
