Alert message sent 24/01/2017 14:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

From attending thousands of 999 calls to safeguarding the most vulnerable in our society, 2016 was another busy year for Bedfordshire Police.

To celebrate the hard work of the force, a short video has been created recognising the efforts of officers and staff during the past 12 months.

Titled “We Have” the video features officers and staff from across the force looking back on milestones achieved during the past 12 months.

In 2016 Bedfordshire Police has:

  • Located more than 700 missing people
  • Solved more than 8,000 crimes
  • Safeguarded more than 60 children by taking them into police protection
  • Carried out more than 10,000 arrests
  • Attended more than 8,000 domestic incidents
  • Carried out more than 1,400 stop searches
  • Attended more than 66,000 incidents

T/Assistant Chief Constable Jackie Sebire said: “It has been another busy year for our officers and staff and I’m tremendously proud of all the work carried out by Bedfordshire Police. Hopefully it will give the public an insight into everything we have done in the past 12 months.

“These statistics are the tip of the iceberg and show the scale of the challenges we face and the brilliant dedication of our officers, despite being a relatively small force. It also shows policing runs so much deeper than the traditional image – we work with partner agencies to identify and safeguard vulnerable people, put huge resources into finding missing people and generally do all we can to keep people safe.

“2016 was a fantastic year for so many reasons and I know we will do everything we can to make 2017 even more successful.”
