Contractors manner of driving and phone use

Alert message sent 08/07/2016 09:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

This message is to make farmers aware that with the busy season well upon us farmers need to take ownership of the behaviour of contractors/ employees working for them. Whilst the police are only to happy to support the legitimate working practices of the farming community it is very difficult to maintain that support when , in particular, tractor drivers are flouting the Road Traffic Laws so blatantly. Specific examples;  Silage trailers towed at inappropriate speed through Broadwindsor causing annoyance and fear to locals and regular use of mobile phones by the drivers  throughout our area (Beaminster). It appears that liaison is failing to produce cooperation so drivers contravening the law in the future will be dealt with, rather than advised. Worst case scenario could result in tractors being seized. Please advise your drivers.

Regards, Beaminster NPT.
